Happy New Year to all!

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, peaceful, and a wonderful year ahead! May Waheguru bring peace, prosperity, strength, courage, sat, santokh, gian, payar, shanti, vishwas, sabar, and keeps everyone in Chardi Kala in the coming year and beyond! May we all see Oneness in all! One Bani, One Guru, One Shabad! One Light, One Granth, and One Khalsa Panth! And, yet at times, this Oneness seems like a distant dream and hope, especially when one focuses on the negatives.

Why Naam is the best Gift than all of the Wealth? All other stuff is just temporary!

With all of the husle and bustle of Christmas shopping, gift buying, giving and all of the recent economic ups and downs of housing bubble, high tech bubble, stock market bubble, this bubble, that bubble. It is just mind boggling how much information we as humans are fed everyday and I don't know about you out there, but I can't keep up with it all and it will be just crazy to even try. I mean people just get stressed out about gifts, money and all of this other stuff during this so called "Holiday Season" in the Western World. It is the same craze in Indian culture during weddings, Diwali etc. i think it is because India has heavily borrowed Western values and culture in the last 60 years or so after Independemce. I wouldn't be surprised the same depression, stress is out there in the India. But I like how India is getting back to yoga and spirituality lately though. But I hope it is not just because the Westerners are getting into Yoga etc. and is a genuine approach to solving human problems through yoga. Sometimes, I wonder, how many of these people are really happy? it seems like depression is becoming more prevalent in the societies we live in irrespective of the religion or culture we belong to. It shouldn't be like this and I don't think Jesus even wanted people to be like this, but who I am I to judge, I am not a Christian. And, our Gurus also teach us to mind our own business and not judge others. But it just seems crazy watching these people in stores. So how does one survive in these times and what bubble should we be really worrying about? Guru Ji answers it in today's hukum below and tells us how Name of Our Lord is the only way out of this bubble. So what is really Naam and how do I get it? Is it repeating the "Waheguru" mantar, or is plainly keeping Waheguru in back of one's mind or repeating Satnam and Waheguru consciously and subconsciously while doing good acts or seva or sitting in Sadh Sangat? At least this is what I think would be the way to receive or invest in this wealth of Naam. What are your thoughts and how would you get Naam? Please share if you like:

Guru Ram Das Maharaj ji is blessing us today in the Bihaagarhaa raag, the raag which focuses on the separation and the unification of the soul bride to the Creator Lord. And Guru Ram Das ji says,

Those people who do not remember, jin those people, har har naam, the name of the Lord, Har Har, Waheguru, na chayti, who who have not meditated upon the name of Waheguru mayree jindurhee-ay. Oh my soul! Mayree jindurhee-ay means Oh my soul! Those people are manmukh. Manmukh means they follow their minds, and not the Guru. They are moorh. Moorh means foolish. I-aanay means to have no understanding, to be ignorant. Oh my soul! Oh my body! Oh my heart! Those people who do not remember Waheguru, they are in darkness, they are ignorant, they are in darkness.

jo mohi maaeiaa chith laaeidhae maeree ji(n)dhurreeeae sae a(n)th geae pashhuthaanae raam

They are like dogs barking in vain. "I have found for that person, Gur Ram Das ji is saying, that person who has found God inside him, he doesn’t care what any slanderer says. He is not brought down by any slander." Even when someone wants to get together, and to slander someone, or to praise, someone who is attached to God, by their slander or by their praise, it doesn’t get any greater or any less. He is stable, in one place. In the instability of Kaljug, that person who is attached to Waheguru is stable. He doesn’t care what anyone says.

Do not hesitate for a minute to meditate upon the name of God. Who knows whether we will breathe another breath? If we were to take one line from this hukamnama it would be this. Who knows about the next breath? Who knows about the next instant? Who knows about the next second? Amidst all this fear, amidst all this trouble in Kaljug, the only thing we can do is meditate upon God. That is Guru Ram Das ji’s blessing to us today.
