Why the World wanders around Insane? Shabad is the Naam! May the New Year help you focus on Sat Naam!

Salok mėhlā 3. Shalok, Third Mehl:
Mā▫i▫ā mamṯā mohṇī jin viṇ ḏanṯā jag kẖā▫i▫ā. The love of Maya is enticing; without teeth, it has eaten up the world.
Manmukẖ kẖāḏẖe gurmukẖ ubre jinī sacẖ nām cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā. The self-willed manmukhs are eaten away, while the Gurmukhs are saved; they focus their consciousness on the True Name.
Bin nāvai jag kamlā firai gurmukẖ naḏrī ā▫i▫ā. Without the Name, the world wanders around insane; the Gurmukhs come to see this.

Ḏẖanḏẖā karṯi▫ā nihfal janam gavā▫i▫ā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa man na vasā▫i▫ā. Involved in worldly affairs, he wastes his life in vain; the peace-giving Lord does not come to abide in his mind.
Nānak nām ṯinā ka▫o mili▫ā jin ka▫o ḏẖur likẖ pā▫i▫ā. 1 O Nanak, they alone obtain the Name, who have such pre-ordained destiny. 1
Mėhlā 3. Third Mehl:
Gẖar hī mėh amriṯ bẖarpūr hai manmukẖā sāḏ na pā▫i▫ā. The home within is filled with Ambrosial Nectar, but the self-willed manmukh does not get to taste it.
Ji▫o kasṯūrī mirag na jāṇai bẖarmaḏā bẖaram bẖulā▫i▫ā. He is like the deer, who does not recognize its own musk-scent; it wanders around, deluded by doubt.
Amriṯ ṯaj bikẖ sangrahai karṯai āp kẖu▫ā▫i▫ā. The manmukh forsakes the Ambrosial Nectar, and instead gathers poison; the Creator Himself has fooled him.
Gurmukẖ virle sojẖī pa▫ī ṯinā anḏar barahm ḏikẖā▫i▫ā. How rare are the Gurmukhs, who obtain this understanding; they behold the Lord God within themselves.
Ŧan man sīṯal ho▫i▫ā rasnā har sāḏ ā▫i▫ā. Their minds and bodies are cooled and soothed, and their tongues enjoy the sublime taste of the Lord.
Sabḏe hī nā▫o ūpjai sabḏe mel milā▫i▫ā. Through the Word of the Shabad, the Name wells up; through the Shabad, we are united in the Lord's Union.
Bin sabḏai sabẖ jag ba▫urānā birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā. Without the Shabad, the whole world is insane, and it loses its life in vain.
Amriṯ eko sabaḏ hai Nānak gurmukẖ pā▫i▫ā. 2 The Shabad alone is Ambrosial Nectar; O Nanak, the Gurmukhs obtain it. 2
Pa▫oṛī. Pauree:
So har purakẖ agamm hai kaho kiṯ biḏẖ pā▫ī▫ai. The Lord God is inaccessible; tell me, how can we find Him?
Ŧis rūp na rekẖ aḏrist kaho jan ki▫o ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai. He has no form or feature, and He cannot be seen; tell me, how can we meditate on Him?
Nirankār niranjan har agam ki▫ā kahi guṇ gā▫ī▫ai. The Lord is formless, immaculate and inaccessible; which of His Virtues should we speak of and sing?
Jis āp bujẖā▫e āp so har mārag pā▫ī▫ai. They alone walk on the Lord's Path, whom the Lord Himself instructs.
Gur pūrai vekẖāli▫ā gur sevā pā▫ī▫ai. 4 The Perfect Guru has revealed Him to me; serving the Guru, He is found. 4

Happy New Year and Satnam!
